What did I do during this wonderful break?
As soon as I got home, the family went out to dinner to celebrate...my dad's new job! We are so excited for him and so thankful for this opportunity. More info can be found here.
The following days were a blur of craziness. I was going from place to place hanging out with everyone, getting some shopping done, planning outfits for every meeting (hey, a girl's gotta look good in front of the boyfriend's parents...and around her own family...and, well, basically every time she steps out the door, right?), until I took an intentional break for one thing, and one unintentional break for another.
Since 1998, going to Easter Vigil at Prince of Peace Catholic Community has been an important tradition for me. Why 1998? That was the year that I was confirmed during that very service. What's even better than a 13-year tradition? Sharing it with someone you love. Since we started dating, this has been something we love doing and look forward to every year. This was my intentional break. It is a really great time to sit and think about faith, redemption, sacrifice, and anything else that comes to mind during the readings, or the songs, or even the reception. For all those who shy away from a long Easter Vigil, let me just say that you should try it at least once--even if just for the amazing cake that is always at the reception!

After a long and crazy weekend, my mom and I planned to hang out together on Monday before I had to get back to school on Tuesday. Cue unintentional break. Maybe it was allergies, maybe it was trying to do a ton of things in a limited amount of time, or maybe I touched a particularly germy doorknob, but I was sick. Thankfully, my mom had already taken the day off of work for our mommy-daughter time and went straight into mommy mode. I had all the soup, jell-o, and water that anyone could want and still got some great time with the best mom in the world.
All in all, break was a ton of fun and a great reminder of how important it is to take breaks from school and work to be with the people you love.
