Just a few notes...then it is time for me to get back to writing thank you notes and reading Foucault:
Over a year and a half of planning the wedding, I was only awfully nervous and anxiety-ridden during the week or two before the whole shindig.
You would think that with eighteen months of time to plan, there would be nothing to worry about at all because everything would be perfectly done and organized. Between senior year of undergrad, long-distance planning, and year one of graduate school, I can guarantee you that not everything was "perfectly" done. I only say "perfectly" because there are only so many people one can please when it comes to a wedding. Did I remember to print out day-of programs and order the awesome party favors two days before the wedding? Nope. Did the seating charts work out as I had planned? Nope. Was it too windy and sunny to take good pictures outside? Yep. Were any of these things important at the end of the day? Maybe, but I can guarantee you that I wasn't thinking about them at all. I was married and having a blast.
We were married in my childhood church, Prince of Peace Catholic Community. I arranged to have a favorite priest of mine who has since moved to St. Patrick's do the ceremony. He is funny and nurturing and the kind of man who asks the bride--during the ceremony--questions that were absolutely not talked about during the rehearsal. We had a wonderful reception at III Forks (one of our favorite restaurants), and then spent some time at home relaxing with friends and family before heading out to a movie with a few of our friends.

Some people say that weddings are all about the couple, but we wanted our focus to be our guests, so our priority was making sure that there would be excellent and plentiful drink and food (including cake). Excellent wedding cake, by the way, is really difficult to find. We truly hope that our guests enjoyed themselves. We love you all and are so excited that you were able to share in this day. Once we move into our new apartment in August, we hope to continuously host dinners and parties...we just love entertaining friends!
Cheers,
Mark and Stephanie
